Working with Forms:



File Menu:

Open Forms-  The Open Forms Menu choice allows you to open the files that accompany this forms package.  When you select the Open Forms Menu option the Preview forms dialog box appears.  This dialog box displays all the files that come with the application.  The Preview Box shows the selected file.  Additionally, the annotation field displays a short description of the file.  To open text files other than the forms which came with this package, you must use the Open Menu option.

Open-  The Open File menu selection allows you to open any text file on your computer system.  These files may be either Text files (*.txt) or Rich Text Files (*.rtf)

Close- The Close dialog box closes the currently open file.  

Save / Save As -  The Save function saves the currently opened file to disk, overwriting the old version. Save As prompts you for a new name for the file before writing the file to disk.  The save functions support Microsoft Standard Rich Text Formatting.  Many popular word processor's (Microsoft Word) support rich text format.  The Save As function brings up the system save dialog box and prompts you to save the file with a .txt or .rtf extension.

Print Setup-  This menu choice brings up the system Print Setup dialog box.

Print-  This prints the document to the default printer.



Edit Menu:
 
Cut-  This function Cuts the selected text from the active document.

Copy-  This function Copies the selected text from the active document.

Paste-  This function pastes the "copied" or "cut" text at the current (mouse selected) insertion point.

Find Next Field - This menu item, as well as the tool bar button, searches the document for the field character ">".  



Style Menu:

The "Style" menu allows you to format the selected text with "Bold", "Italic", and "Underline" settings.  Selecting "Normal" will clear out any formatting for the selected text.

Font - This displays detailed information on the font, including Fonts available, Size, Attributes and position.



Favorites Menu:

Add to Favorites -  The "Add Favorites" menu item brings up a dialog box with a series of buttons that allow you to add documents to a list of favorites.  This is a good place to keep customized documents that still contain the field characters.  These files can either be text or rich text files.

Open Favorite Files - Displays the Open Forms window to make a selection from your favorite files.



Tool Bar:

The Tool Bar contains icons for the following style tools:

Font Selection Pulldown - Displays the Font that is currently being used.  The pulldown contains a list of all available fonts in the system.

Font Size Pulldown - Displays the font size that is currently being used.  The pulldown contains a list of available sizes for the current font.

B-Button-  Sets the style of the currently selected text to "bold"
U-Button-  Sets the style of the currently selected text to "underline"
I -Button-  Sets the style of the currently selected text to "italic"

Left / Right / Center / Justify Buttons - Formats the justification of the currently selected text to the format chosen.

Find >  - This tool bar button, as well as the menu item, searches the document for the field character ">".  

Paragraph Margins - To adjust the margins of a paragraph or the currently selected paragraphs, drag the margin marker (triangle icons above the ruler) to the new positions.  Drag the icons by clicking on the icon with the mouse, holding down the button, moving the mouse to the new position, and releasing the mouse once the icon is in the location you desire.

Tab Stops - The current tab stop positions are shown by the down arrows above the page ruler.  These stops may be moved by clicking on the down arrow with your mouse, and dragging the arrow to the new position.  A new tab position may be added by clicking on the tab stop menu bar with the mouse.  A tab position may be removed by dragging the down arrow to the far right or left of the page.
