In addition to providing for a living will, the law allows a person to designate another to make treatment decisions should the declarant be unable to do so. The statute provides that if notified, a physician shall include the fact of the execution of a living will in the patient's records. The statute excludes pregnant women from its operation, whether or not the woman has executed a living will. A physician unwilling to comply with a living will must make a good faith effort to transfer the patient.
